About Reiki

If you’ve never experienced reiki, or you just want to know about more about it, here are some common questions answered..

What is Reiki? Reiki is a gentle, hands on or off form of energy healing that promotes relaxation and reduces stress. We’re all made of energy and sometimes that energy gets congested in the body. By realigning the energy flow, reiki enhances the body’s natural healing processes restoring harmony to your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
What to expect ?
The person receiving reiki lies fully clothed on my treatment bed, and I have a soft blanket to keep you warm and relaxed. While I close the curtains and have soft lighting, some clients also like to wear an eye mask. When you are lying comfortably, through a light touch or a gentle hovering of hands, I then help channel healing energy into your body. I generally start at your head and work round your body, but depending on your needs, I may focus the channelling on one particular area, such as your shoulder, hips or knees. Everyone’s experience of reiki is different. Some people feel a warmth or tingling where my hands are, while others just feel a deep relaxation. Many people fall asleep!
Will my medication affect my reiki treatment?
Reiki is a holistic therapy and can be used to compliment your medication. You should not stop taking your medication, and reiki is definitely not a replacement for any medical treatment you may be undergoing. Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns. ,
After care
After a reiki session, you may feel slightly light headed, more alert or simply more balanced. Some people don’t immediately feel any effect after a session, but many say they sleep much better, and feel able to face challenges in a different, more positive way. It’s important to drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol and caffeine after a session.
